Book Fair Nearing the Peak

Update: The 2011 Darsana Book fair will be held from 28th January – 06th February at Thirunakkara Grounds.

As in all these years, the sooner it’s going to end, the greater the number turns out. With 5 days remaining, there is a steady rise in the numbers. A trend we observed – the numbers are not quite high during the daytime, but the rush in the evenings makes up for it with families flocking in. Obviously, sales too have registered a rise.

This year’s single-pavilion arrangement and efficient stall design, are worth appreciating. Apart from contributing to the niceness of the venue, it also ensures, every participant is given equal prominence.

Chaithanya Karshika Mela Concludes. Was Huge.

12th annual Chaithanya Karshika Mela organized by Kottayam Social Service Society at Chaithanya Pastoral Centre, Thellakom came to an end today. Started off as something small, the noble initiative was given a terrific welcome and is now the biggest & greatest fair outside the town.

Apart from the display and sale of agri-horti-products, a number of self-help groups in the District have setup stalls that showcase their crops, handicrafts and much more. Amusement facilities, general shopping, medical exhibitions & checkups, innovative product demos (like the cow-milking equipment), a plethora of cultural activities and really huge number of visitors (not to mention visitors’ vehicles filling either sides of M.C. Road in a 1 km stretch!), make this a much-happening event in Kottayam.

And here goes the photos.
